championship golf and hiking to one of the country’s premier horse racing venues, our Saratoga Springs attractions offer something for everyone.
For guests who love the great outdoors, Saratoga Spa State Park boasts beautiful 18-hole championship golf course and a par-three executive course, miles of hiking and biking trails, cross-country skiing and more. In addition, the park’s Roosevelt Mineral Baths & Spa provides luxurious body therapies, soothing facials, healing mineral baths and a host of salon services only moments from the Gideon Putnam Resort.
When outdoor adventures give way to leisurely days spent at cultural destinations, some of the top Saratoga Springs attractions include the Saratoga Automobile Museum, Hall of Springs, Spa Little Theatre, the National Museum of Dance and Saratoga Performing Arts Center®.

Spring Activities


Spring in Saratoga During spring, once the snow melts, the Saratoga Spa State Park offers walking, jogging, hiking and biking on the nature trails. Trail maps are available at the hotel front desk for your use. Natural geysers and mineral springs, which are some of the most famous Saratoga Springs attractions, can easily be seen throughout the park.

Summer Activities


Summer in Saratoga During summer the Saratoga Spa State Park offers four clay and four macadam tennis courts, walking, jogging, bicycling, and hiking on the nature trails. Picnic pavilions (for an additional fee) are also available, which include volleyball and softball. Natural geysers and mineral springs can easily be seen throughout the park.  Tennis instructor Bill Yaiser, is also available by appointment (518-369-0043).

Just a short walk or drive from the Gideon Putnam Resort, Saratoga Spa Golf boasts an 18-hole Championship Course, a 9-hole Executive Course, an all-grass driving range, a practice putting green, a full-service golf shop and a restaurant to help keep your energy up after your match.

You can also swim in the two outdoor pools located within the park - Victoria and the Peerless. 

Operated by the State Park, the Victoria pool is available to guests of the Gideon Putnam as well as the public.  Located behind the hotel, guests will enjoy the walk through the park to the pool.  This soothing Saratoga Springs attraction is open 7 days a week from June 28 through September 1.  The operating hours for the Victoria Pool are 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. If you are not a guest of the Gideon Putnam Resort, adults are $8 and children are $4.

The Peerless Pool is a larger area with a family oriented atmosphere.  The Peerless Pool is open 6 days a week, closed on Tuesdays, from June 28 through September 1.  The operating hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Adults are $2 and children are $1. Additional park entry fee required.

Thoroughbred and Harness Racing

Fall Activities


Fall in Saratoga. During fall, the Saratoga Spa State Park offers four clay and four macadam tennis courts, walking, jogging, bicycling, and hiking on the nature trails weather permitting. Picnic pavilions (for an additional fee) are also available, which include volleyball and softball. Natural geysers and mineral springs can easily be seen throughout the park.  Take a stroll and enjoy the beauty of the Fall foliage right outside the Gideon Putnam Resort.

Winter Activities


Winter in Saratoga. In the winter, you can take advantage of the splendor of the beautiful snow-covered scenery throughout the Saratoga Spa State Park.  In the 2,300-acre park, enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or ice skating on either of our two rinks. Cross-country ski trails and snowshoe trails are groomed weather permitting.  Complimentary snow shoes are now available at the Gideon Putnam. Trails begin at the warming hut which is located off of the Avenue of the Pines.
