Work at Roosevelt Baths now complete, state says
June 9, 2008 by Chris Churchill

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation today announced the May 30 completion of work at the Roosevelt Baths at Saratoga Spa State Park to convert two treatment rooms to mineral bathwater.

Two additional rooms will be converted in time for the Independence Day weekend, the agency said.  The $100,000 project was sparked by media reports last year that said the bathhouse used regular tap water in its $20 “mineral baths.”

Bathers at the spa now can choose between bathwater that is heated undiluted mineral water or bathwater that is a blend of mineral and fresh water.

Brian Sterner, executive chef at the Gideon Putnam Resort in Saratoga Springs, points out that most people purchase hams that are already cured. So preparing a ham for dinner is about reheating and glazing the ham throughout the reheating process. "It was a lovely and gracious resort and I wished that I had more time there. It was very convenient to the town of Saratoga Springs and the Victorian street festival was a bonus. I live in an area that has mostly national retailers and it was refreshing to be able to shop in so many unique local retailers."  ”
