June 27-28 FREIHOFER´S JAZZ FESTIVAL. This two-day event is a veritable who’s who of jazz featuring jazz legends as well as noteworthy newcomers. Enjoy Southern-style refreshments and fine-arts and exhibits and sale on the SPAC grounds.
DAY ONE of two jam-packed days and nights of jazz amidst one of the most spectacular park settings in the country. The casual approach taken by the facility allows families to take advantage of the spacious grounds with tents, gatherings, picnics and umbrellas. The varied display of craftspeople add to the festive weekend atmosphere. A unique feature is the Gazebo stage. Strategically located on SPAC´s back lawn, the gazebo serves as a showcase for emerging talents across the jazz spectrum and a space that allows fans a more up-close musical experience.
Highlights of the Festival.
Patti LaBelle, the "Queen of Rock and Soul, The Gary Burton Quartet Revisited featuring five time Grammy winner Gary Burton with jazz guitarist Pat Metheny, bass guitarist Steve Swallow and drummer Antonio Sanchez. Herbie Hancock,  Drummer and recent NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Cobb, joined by members of his "So What Band", Wallace Roney, Vincent Herring, Javon Jackson, Larry Willis & Buster Williams, Dred Scott Trio, Grammy award winner Wallace Roney, and the John Ellis Quartet.
Also SMV – Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten; Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Mark Morganelli’s Jazz Forum Brazil Project, Kendra Shank Quartet, La Timbistica and the Berklee Latin All-Stars.

The intimate indoor/outdoor bar adjacent to the Hall of Springs is the perfect place to enjoy pre-performances cocktails as well as a relaxing spot for drinks at intermission or after the performance. SPAC is one of the few performing arts venues whose sloping lawn is perfectly suited to fully view the amphitheatre while enjoying a picnic on the lawn with friends. Bring your own or buy one there. USEFUL INFORMATION

CLASSICAL EVENTS
Parking Information. The main parking lot is located off Rte 50 and is open from dawn to the end of the event. Gates open 1 ½  hours before show time. There is additional parking available in the Saratoga Spa State Park. Ground Rules. Light Fare, food, wine and beer are available for sale on the grounds. Adult beverages are served in the informal Jazz Bar in the Hall of Springs before most classical performances and during intermission. Guests are welcome to bring the following items: Picnic, Wine or beer, Blankets. Strollers, Binoculars, Back-packs, Purses, and Small lawn chairs.
Persons with Disabilities.
Handicap parking is available in our main lot off Rte. 50 – it is also possible to drive to the main entrance and drop people off and then park your vehicle. Benches are provided in this area. The theatre runs mini-shuttles to and from both gates. The carts will transport you as close as possible to your section in the theatre. During intermissions and at the end of the performance the carts will pick you up where they dropped you off and return you to the main gate. Phonic Ear is provided for those that may need assistance in hearing the event being presented. Please ask ushers for assistance. Handicap bathrooms are located in our concession area. When ordering tickets – please be sure to tell the person taking your order of any special arrangements you may need ie: sight, hearing, or seating.

In 2009, Saratoga Performing Arts Center´s stage will host some of the hottest bands and performers from the pop and rock world.  Legendary names such as The Dave Matthews Band, Cold Play, and Nickelback will be performing this season. 

Over the past forty years, Spac´s stage has been home to celebrated artists such as The Doors, Bruce Sprinsteen, The Grateful Dead, Tina Turner, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Jackson Browne and Tom Petty.  Concerts are presented in the 5,200-seat Amphitheatre and surrounding lawns, which can accommodate an additional 20,000 fans.  With six large screens connected to four remote-control cameras on and around the stage, evey fan is assured a front-row view.

SARATOGA WINE AND FOOD FESTIVAL, SEPTEMBER 10-12, 2009

For our 9th annual Wine & Food Festival, Saratoga Performing Arts Center is joining forces with the Saratoga Automobile Museum – combining two exciting events into one extraordinary happening – the Saratoga Wine & Food and Fall Ferrari Festival.  The WFF auction is our biggest community fundraising effort to benefit classical programming at SPAC, last year’s auction helped raise close to $120,000.  This year, the Festival will benefit both classical programming at Saratoga Performing Arts Center and the educational programs of the Saratoga Automobile Museum.

SARATOGA JAZZ FESTIVAL, JUNE 27-28, 2009

If you love good jazz music and having fun, you won´t want to miss this festival.  It´s the most popular jazz festival in the area and one of the most anticipated events in Saratoga each summer!

SATURDAY, JUNE 27 (noon - 11:00 pm)

Patti LaBelle, the "Queen of Rock and Soul", last appeared at the Festival in 1985.
The Gary Burton Quartet Revisited features five time Grammy winner Gary Burton with Pat Methany, Steve Swallow, and Antonio Sanchez.
Herbie Hancock described Miles Davis´ Kind of Blue as "a cornerstone record, not only for jazz...but for music."  Jimmy Cobb, Wallace Roney, Vincent Herring, Javon Jackson, Larry Willis & Buster Williams to perform a tribute to the historic album.
The Village Voice said of the Dred Scott Trio, "blending pop, bop, pulse, and clatter, they get to a place that swings on its own terms."
One of the most exciting tenor saxophone players in the jazz world today, John Ellis performs with the John Ellis Quartet.

SUNDAY, JUNE 28 (noon - 11:00 pm)

George Benson, eight-time Grammy winning artist performs favorites as well as a tribute to Nat "King" Cole accompanied by a 28-piece orchestra.
The Dave Brubeck Quartet joins the Festival to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of his landmark work, Time Out-the first ever jazz album to go gold.
New Orleans trombone/brass funk band Bonerama, brings their distinctive style to the Festival main stage.
Aaron Parks performs works from his Blue Note debut album, Invisible Cinema.
Dynamic, young jazz guitarist and composer Julian Lage brings his unique style to his first Festival apperance.

The 2009 Season of the New York City Ballet, will feature stunning ballets, including three performances of full-length story ballet Coppelia, a work partially commissioned by SPAC that had it´s world premiere on SPAC´s stage in 1974.

Other highlights include George Balanchine´s Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, the centerpiece of the July 11 Ballet Gala, and the one-act Swan Lake.  The season will also feature the Saratoga premieres of new work´s by Benjamin Millepied and Melissa Barak.  New York City Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martins´ 1994 work Pappillons will also have it´s first-ever performance at SPAC.
